India is the second biggest consumer of fertilizer in the world next only to China. The Indian Fertilizer companies produced around 37.6 million tonnes of fertilizer in the year 2012-13 with a 9% rise.By 2020 fertilizer demands in the country is projected to increase to about 4106 million tones and is expected to grow at a faster rate from the previous years. To meet the increasing fertilizer requirement of the country, many new comer ( imports, local)  with various type of fertilizers like chemical, organic, bio fertilizers would be required along with the good government policy .

There are 57 large fertilizers plants in the country producing urea, DAP, Complex fertilizer,Ammonium Sulphate (AS) and Calcium Ammonium Nitrate (CAN).

Intense use of chemical fertilizer caused severe damage to the health, ecosystem and ground water of the country and also demand of micronutrients and organic fertilizers.Organic materials serve as both fertilizers and soil conditioners—they feed both soils and plants. This is one of the most important differences between a chemical approach and an organic approach toward soil care and fertilizing. Its growth is much faster than the traditionally used chemical fertilizer because of hazard effect of chemical fertilizer is being recognized by farmers & recognized organization like ‘WHO’ who is provoking the use of organic fertilizer throughout the world for eliminating the’ Hidden hunger’because of nutrient food deficiency.
